David was thirty years old when he began to reign, and he reigned forty years. In Hebron, he reigned over Judah seven years and six months: and in Jerusalem he reigned thirty and three years over all Israel and Judah. 2 Sam. 5:4-5
Thirty years: Christ was 30 years old when he began his ministry. David was 30 years old when he became King. 3×10 denotes a higher degree of the perfection of divine order. Since three means, solid, substantial, complete and entire, then 3×10 speaks of a higher order.
Forty: 40 is associated with trial, chastisement, but points to Grace, leading to revival and renewal. It begins with the trial but ends with Grace. This is seen repeatedly in Scripture, where men and women of God, have been put through the fire but came out in revival or renewal or both. Think of Job, Joseph, Daniel, Esther, Ruth and even David himself.
Seventy-Six: seven years and six months: Here again we see 7+6 Seven is divine order, God + six which is a man. The man was created on the sixth day, therefore, six is the number of men. It is also the number of labor. Six days shalt thou labor and do all thy work but on the seventh is a day of rest. Because of sin, we are relegated to labor, but there is a promise of the seventh day, which shall be a day of rest. 6+1=7, man plus God = spiritual perfection.
Thirty-three: Embraces infinity, eternity, perfection, completion and full inheritance in God’s divine order. It is reflective of our future in eternity in Christ if we faint not.
Food for thought!
God bless you.
